As a general rule,I always have my camera in my camera bag. I leave the lid unzipped but closed. If I see something on the fly,I can shoot it within seconds!
Thats what Happened here. I saw this Kingfisher sitting on top of a pole & shot it while planing! Not a easy thing to do.
I slowed & circled but by the time I turned,the little bugger had taken off! They are such flighty little birds!

I can never get close to these guys! They are so “flighty” ,if I may use that word? They are one of the only other birds that I am aware of that can hover like a Humming Bird!

When the Daredevil went by he disturbed this Kingfisher and the bird did a excellent pose for me. The light was going straight through his feathers.

This little guy was perched on a limb on Morpheus Island. They seem to rarely to do this. They always are constantly flying about.

Trying to get a shot of these guys in flight ain’t easy! They like to hang around tree limbs over the water and dive into the water when a small fish comes by.

These guys are so small and flighty,that trying to get a shot of them close up is a even bigger challenge than eagles.
