One shot shows when the dock collapse. They had alot of weight on it and because the Teredo worms had eaten the pilings,the dock couldn’t take the weight and collapsed! That was the death ring for the saw mill!
The Teredo worm is not even technically a worm,but an unusual saltwater clam that burrows into wood.Trying to keep them out of wood has always been a problem. The use of copper over a ships hull has worked in the past,but pressure treated seems to be the best. They basically make the wood so toxic that nothing wants to go near it! The problem with using these nasty chemicals is that they leach out of the wood over the course of time into the surrounding environment!
