Tonight is the Snow moon. ….not that I’ll be able to see it,as It’s been raining a lot! This was shot in 2016.
When the moon rises in the east it’s always very faint. As It rises It gets brighter and brighter. There is about a 20 -30 minute time window when the brightness and contrast are perfect! The GoldiLocks zone, where it’s not too faint and it’s not too bright,It’s just right!

That’s such a gorgeous photo, Wayne!
thank you Lynette!
Wayne, your photo is suburb! Just the right contrast with the moon and the eagle! I am sure it would win grand prize, if entered into a photo contest!
thank you Hazel!
You’re welcome, Wayne!
A gorgeous picture, Wayne.
thank you Robbie!
Fantastic shot Wayne.
Thank you Peggy!
May I have your permission to steal this photo of Romeo and the Snow Moon for a future Farewell Salutes on my site?
of course GP, sending it to you
I love the header photo! It looks as though Romeo(?) is escaping from the moon.
the Daredevil Liz, he has that unique tree top in his territory.
I wasn’t sure!
they do look alike and you wouldn’t be familiar enough with the trees in his territory Liz
Another fantastic shot. Is that Romeo?
Daredevil and thank you Noelle!
I have no idea how you tell them apart aside from their territory!
that’s it Noelle! I know where their boundaries are. If I see a eagle in that territory It must be the owner. Eagle territories fit together like huge jig saw pieces along the waters edge.
Think of like “gang” territory.
Ah hah – see, I’ve learned another something from you!
The Daredevil is a crafty guy, always keeps me on my toes!
Luckliy the moon looks the “same” each year, Wayne. When you add Romeo into the shot, the moon pales a little at the presence of the regal eagle! Gorgeous!!
this is the Daredevil Terri and thank you!
Somehow that is more fitting!
So when is the golden hour for the moon? My pictures of the moon are sadly lacking in anything golden.
there isn’t one. You have to hang around for several hours waiting for it to come into perfect contrast. It’s usually either too faint or too bright. Mindfullness is required.
Ah that explains why I don’t have many pictures of the moon!
taking pictures with the moon in it (properly exposed) is a science unto itself!
Not one that I have studied, and need to do so.
Thank you for following my blog. Your photos are great😊
thank you Arlene,I like you’re down to earth writing
We did not get a good look at the full moon down here either. It got rained out.
A perfect shot Wayne – I’m a bit behind here, so I hope the weather is a little dryer by now?
I love the header photo! It looks as though Romeo(?) is escaping from the moon
actually that is the Daredevil but good guess Max!
thanks for dropping in!
Beautiful shots. You must spend ages waiting for the moon and eagle to both be in the right position
and your guess would be 100% correct Emma!
It’s rare for me to get shots like this.
Magnificent, Wayne. You captured it at the right time. I’m SO glad GP used the photo in his farewell salutes.
thank you Jennie, you get well young lady!
You are welcome, and will do!
Absolutely stunning, Wayne.
always good to hear from you Jet,thank you!
The “Goldilocks zone.” I like that. Beautiful shot.
thanks D,I get very few opportunities for shots like that!
I can imagine!
