yes, that Heron likes this spot. When they are hunting I can sneak up on them better because they are concentrating on the fish and not whats going on around them.
The ballet of the Great Blue Heron here — magnificent, Wayne! This is a terrific series highlighting the grace and beauty of this heron. I espec. like the second image, with the heron stretched out completely, all the way down to the toes lifting off.
Beautiful. Excellent to catch the great blue in action.

🙂
The grey heron, outlined against the vivid blue water, is very lovely.
Glad you enjoyed the shot Robbie!
I especially like the Great blue heron in flight! Magnificent, noble, huge!
YEs and squawky too!
LOL! I always am of a mind that they have a 747j et-like presence as they glide through the air.
yes and only about 5 pounds!
That always amazes me about birds. Not much “stuff” under the feathers unless they are pheasant relatives or turkeys!
yes, those two birds you mentioned do not fly very well,I suspect because they are heavier? More short like short gliding.
They manage!
Great series of posts of Romeo and your GBH!
thank you Donna! I love spending time with him. When I talk to him he constantly looks down and around as If he sees something. He makes me laugh!
❤ 🦅
You’re both heron fans! As am I :)
I love the framing on these photos.
thank you Lynette!
The herons are very graceful and you have captured that grace here, now -if they could just ditch that shriek!
Great shots Wayne, I love it when they show their wing spans.
Yes,their wings seem so huge! Amazing to think they only weigh in at 5 pounds eh!
They remind me of fly fishermen poised over the water waiting for the perfect catch :)

that’s about the point it started squawking and you know how they sound! Mother Nature did not install a beautiful singing voice in these creatures!
