This is Deadman island, its in Tofino’s harbour. The Natives would take their dead there and put them up in the trees. (Which was not a bad idea if they died of something contagious!) They believed it was Evil spirits that killed their loved ones and so wanted the evil spirits to be elsewhere!
They would put them in small Bentwood boxes. Many times the limbs would have to be broken to fit into these beautifully hand crafted wooden boxes.
The crescent moon adds a nice touch.
That’s very interesting! And your picture is a dream!!
thank you! The clouds made the sunset snap crackle and pop!
Wow! Thanks for telling us. Gorgeous photo!
thank you Anne!
Incredible picture – I’ll give you *****plus !! for this👍
thank you Amy! I noticed the moons orbit is very low in the south this month. So maybe I can use that to my advantage when full moon comes around?
Well they were secluded there weren’t they – no one would bother them there. The layers of color from sky to water are interesting. I see you’ve changed your blog header.
yes,I’ve decided that If I have a great shot from my evening shoot that I’m going to put it up as my header. So maybe I’ll change it every time I post.
Stunning sunset! Deadman’s Island is fascinating. If I ever get caught up to my other projects, I have a book started using the island as a backdrop.
and I have the perfect cover shot!

Its also verboten for whites to set foot upon that island! Its Romeo and Juliette’s main perch island.
