Its my birthday today & with the weather being poor I thought I’d share a little of me.

On February 14th,1991 at approximately 9am I bungee jumped naked in front of thousands! I was first in line.I slept in my car overnight at the gate.It was the first Valentine Naked Bungee Jump in North America. I jumped at Nanaimo,B.C.Anyone who wanted to jump that day jumped free & naked! They kept doing this for many years.I was also first in line the second year around.

I remember it being a clear night so it was cold during the night & because I was the first in line I was the first to sit down on a very frosty bench.I had to strip down first before they attached the bungee. I remember getting back up & looking down at the bench.There was a perfectly melted heart shape! Talk about leaving ones mark!

The Bungee Zone bridge is 160 feet high.I’ve parachuted before but found this more scary to be honest.When your up in a plane the height doesn’t seem real,but when your closer to the ground its more in your face.

I’ll always cherish these moments!

    I agree about the parachute vs bungee difference. I tried both and though I’d parachute again anytime, I doubt I’ll try a second bungee jump :P I still remember how my brain kept screaming ”NOOOOOOO” before I took the leap! LOL And one thing’s for sure, if I ever do it again, it will not be naked – even if that means sparing $$

      2. yes,instead of shaking with the right,we use the left but have our hands flat so we push against each other after falling towards each other.Sort of like we catch each others fall!

Well I’ve always thought you were a free spirit Wayne – that is a great memory, though you’re a lot braver, not only for bungee jumping, but much more, and certainly more than me or most people for that matter! Sorry your weather didn’t cooperate for your birthday. I had torrential rain on my birthday – it lasted the entire day. Happy Birthday and many more and I’ll leave you with this quote which I was going to use for year end, but I’ll use it here instead, simply because you are one with nature … you will never get old and stale.

  5. Steps on to land inhabited by bears…to get a good shot. Lets eagles take fish from his hands. Jumps off a perfectly good bridge…for fun. And strips down naked in frigid temperatures…to jump off said bridge. Bravado or plain crazy…I’m not sure which! Perhaps this is what a free spirit does.

    Whatever you are…keep living life your way…hoping you have many more birthdays to come!

      1. Well, i hope things are better now…sometimes screaming helps…when I get really stressed, I throw rocks as far as I can land them…it really works. and seems a lot less scary than bungee jumping. Fortunately, my high stress days are over…life is good. I hope yours is as well.

  6. Bungee Jumping on a wintery day. You leap off as a boy but end up as a girl! At least you did it for free. can’t understand why people pay money to jump off of a perfectly good bridge!
    I made that decision about sky-diving ;it made more sense to be paid a little to stay in the plane and fly it.

      5. That’s different. I do. Bizarrely, I prefer smaller aircraft to massive planes that make me feel a bit claustrophobic. There’s no rhyme or reason to it!

  23. Sorry I missed your birthday. I certainly have never had the nerve to bungee jump, much less naked in the cold. Glad you had a good time. Hope you had a great time this year too
