FAST FOOD!

As you remember, yesterday I found the carcass of a Sea Otter. I towed it to shore & tied it to a tree so it wouldn’t float away. I had decided to travel all the way down the inlet to grab my trail camera.I was going to set it up looking at the carcass in hopes of some wolves coming over for dinner?

Well……….they did, but they started without me! When I came into Tsapee Narrows I found both the Daredevil & Delilah on the carcass. I thought I’d go to shore & check it out? I found it had all been eaten!  I was very disappointed! A pack of wolves must of come through during the night. They ate the whole thing & even took the head! Must be those head hunting wolves.

So much for my plan!

MURDERED & BUTCHERED!

I was heading out to Fortune Channel.I was going to look for bears.I was passing through Tsapee Narrows when I saw something floating in the water? I turned back around & soon discovered that something was dead!

I found out that it was an Otter. An adult male Sea Otter. I towed it to shore to have a better look. It appears this poor creature was shot & skinned for it’s pelt! Than thrown into the water like garbage! The blood hadn’t even begun to coagulate yet! It was killed just hours before me arriving.

This is the end result of wildlife being exchanged for financial benefit. If there is money to be had,you can be sure someone will be more than happy to dispatch it.

I found this female bear in a area I’ve never seen a bear in before. I also got the feeling that this bear hasn’t seen many people/boats before. It swung around & was very curious about me.As long as I don’t move the bears stay transfixed staring at me. I do have to slow the engine or correct my steering  which means I do have to move.Movement tells them I’m an animal & that scares them away.

LITTLE CUTIE

I believe that this is an adult female? How do I know that? ….the nose. The reason why that nose is pink is because of scar tissue. The males usually grab the females neck to make her stay put while he mates with her but they also grab the nose as well. The nose is very sensitive! She doesn’t stay still & so the nose is damaged.

PIGLET?

I was so happy to see my young furry friend again! She looks like she’s grown & is doing well! Because I didn’t see her mother Peggy anywhere I suspect Piglet denned by herself.Peggy must of given Piglet the boot last fall before going to sleep.I found Piglet on the very same beach I found her last year at this time. They tend to hand around areas they are familiar with when they are young.

UPDATE: Turns out this is not Piglet after all.I found both Peggy & Piglet together last night. So this female cub is new.

Juliette was being a bully to Romeo tonight.Romeo came over to say hi to me! Just as I was arriving at our common meeting spot when Juliette came out of nowhere & forced him to move suddenly! She wanted that perching spot! She’s much bigger than he is & does bully him from time to time.

Romeo almost always takes her fish when she’s sitting on the nest.
