This whole area floods at high tide. That root ball got swept down stream during a high rain event! The stream swells tremendously during heavy rainstorms. The fast flowing water undercuts the trees along side the bank & they fall into the raging stream. The trees are then unceremoniously carried downstream to a new resting place.
